Unity

Purple was the color that “rained” at Hillary Clinton’s concession speech. Lots of theories about why she and Bill chose to wear that color and what it symbolized.

First up is the theory that the purple was representative of the swing states. Swing states are often referred to as “purple states” during elections, and Clinton’s words addressed the battleground parts of the country that remained in contention until the final hour on November 8. "We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought," she said. "But I still believe in America, and I always will. And if you do, then we must accept this result and then look to the future."

Others theorized that it was the color representing the anti-bullying movement for LGBTQ  communities.

Still others called it suffragette purple, since the color—along with white and green—makes up the suffragette flag.

Others saw a Methodist bent, since Clinton is a Methodist.

My vote is that the purple represents UNITY

Hillary Clinton opened her Wednesday concession speech with words of unity and faith in the democratic process. Many people saw her purple satin shirt and lapels, which were punctuated by Bill Clinton's matching tie, as an extension of that message.

And as his purple highness, Prince taught us all:

Honey I know, I know, I know times are changing

It's time we all reach out for something new

That means you too

You say you want a leader

But you can't seem to make up your mind

I think you better close your eyes

And let me guide you to the purple rain

Let’s all stand in the “purple rain” and UNITE as Hillary inspired us to do and fight for the causes AND the candidates that we did elect to deliver on the issues, policies, laws for which we elected them.  We can start with just reviewing some of the many organizations that can help us affect change.  Three places to start:
